Denise Spellberg
Denise A. Spellberg, Ph.D., is Professor of History and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Her scholarship focuses on the history of Islam in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. She was named a Carnegie Scholar for her book, Thomas Jefferson’s Qur’an: Islam and the Founders, which has been translated into Arabic, Turkish, and Indonesian. Her research and teaching garnered support from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Ford Foundation.
